The history of Dahon bicycles begins in 1975.
During this time, Dahon bicycles founder Dr. David Hon was a physicist at the Hughes Aircraft Corporation in California, and was involved in highly classified government research projects.
Dr. Hon was considered a leading expert in solid state laser technology and is the author of several patented inventions.
The groundbreaking laser technology developed by D. Hon and his team has also been used in NASA spacecraft, US missile guidance systems and anti-aircraft laser guidance systems.
Despite the successes achieved, the work in the corporation Hughes Aircraft did not completely satisfy David Hon, because his energy was directed to the creation of military tools, and not to improve the life of society.
We can say that in 1975, during the oil and gas crisis, the idea of Dahon was born.
