History of Marin Bicycles

There's a MARIN Bicycle PDF Manual above the page.

The success of Marin's bicycle first model, the Madrone Trail, turned heads and laid the foundation for three decades of MTB development.

Just two years after the company was founded, the well-received 1988 Marin Team Titanium took off as one of the world's first titanium mountain bikes to go into series production.

It was during this time that Marin began naming the models after iconic landmarks in Marin County: Muirwoods, Bolinas Ridge, Pine Mountain, Indian Fire Trail, Eldridge Grade, and Hidden Canyon.

Watching the road bike renaissance trend, in 1991 Marin introduced its first hybrid and road models to the world, expanding the brand's scope with new segments, including the now hotly popular urban segment.

In mountain bike technology, Marin has long been a pioneer in full-suspension bike design: in 1993, the Marin Titanium FRS combined the suspension components of an early Manitou, weighing only 25kg.

At the 93rd World Championship, Jürgen Benecke is driving the Titanium FRS, defending the Marin bicycle brand in a public arena with an internationally renowned graphic and a charcoal gray anodized color scheme that remains a memorable part of the MTB palette to this day.

Throughout the 90s and 2000s, the Marin brand gained a following worldwide thanks to its innovative, competitive bikes and sponsored rider victories.

Hydroforming, monocoque and an increasing number of full-suspension models with QUAD-Link suspension designs, combined with an increased focus on road bikes, have firmly established the Marin brand as one of the key influencers in the bicycle industry.

The past decade has been particularly fruitful; Marin Bikes experienced a renaissance in management in 2013 and completely overhauled the lineup, receiving numerous awards from the media around the world.

In the spring of 2017, the Wolf Ridge, powered by the innovative Naild R3ACT-2Play suspension technology, entered the MTB market and Hawk Hill received its second Editor's Choice Award from Bicycling Magazine.

The future of the Marin brand is vibrant and competitive, with a wide range of MTB, fitness / hybrid, road and e-bikes.
